If you are a parent, surely you have observed children become divided and argue over the littlest things. If you’re not a parent you are likely all to familiar with the experience seeing other people’s children do the same. Or if you have seen two dogs play you may have seen the dogs fight over the same stick in a yard. The yard could have 100 branches on the ground but somehow these pups find a way to squabble over the same stick that is only distinguished because the other dog has possession of the toy.
When Mary allegedly appeared to the Protestant sawmill workers in Ft Worth Texas in 1996, she was initially met with wonder but not joy. Even after the men prayed their deliverance prayer over her and the laborers concluded she was from the Lord, there was still discomfort as they had heard so many negative things about her from the pulpit. But Mary’s grandeur, her beauty and her demeanor made any reservations about this woman quickly begin to melt away – She was extraordinary.
“What should we call you” they asked, trying to be a little congenial but without seeming too enthusiastic about her presence.
Her response was a comment that one would expect from a humble mom who wanted anything but division among her children. “It doesn’t matter what you call me” she replied.
Mary then artfully redirected the question and shifted the conversation to what she had come from Heaven to talk about.
“It only matters that you repent and turn to my son, Jesus ” is the quote as best remembered by a believer cast in this heavenly script that day.
The last thing Mary wanted was to be a source of division among people who already knew what was most important – Jesus. Any differences beyond that paramount point were simply not critical from her vantage, especially a squabble over her. Her teaching seemed an echo of her Son’s from Luke 9 when the Christ quelched squabbling among believers:
And John, answering, said: Master, we saw a certain man casting out devils in thy name, and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us. 50 And Jesus said to him: Forbid him not; for he that is not against you, is for you.
Jesus prayed for unity among his followers, a unity Mary clearly intended to foster, as she once again chose to appear to Christians who were not catholic and not predisposed to her -
“I ask … on behalf of those who will believe in me through the word, that they may all be one. (John 17:20-21)
Thanks to Toby who sent us the following video. It is a talk by a former protestant minister who had significant challenges with Mary. For those who love her as well as for those who have challenges with Mary, it is a brilliant run through scriptures connecting the Old and New Testaments and building off the Ark of the Covenant insights you passed along to us last week. It addresses the most controversial topics about Mary.
We cannot ignore the news flow. Each week our intention is for the restoration of America and the protection of our military, firefighters and police.
Please join us as you fast tomorrow praying for the soldiers who died in the mid-east, obeying the commands of their superiors, offering to serve our country and laying down their lives for it.
I feel their deaths are foul to a degree like the death of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba who at the low point of David’s life sent the soldier to die for David’s own self-interests. That Uriah died in that situation may have been the greatest injustice in the Old Testament. Like Uriah these soldiers did not deserve to die like they did – there was no reason for it other than for the dishonest and foul ambitions of our politically-bribed elite. Please join me in praying for the souls of these honorable patriots, for the comfort of their families, and that God’s justice will reign down on the American politicians who continue to do everything they can to destroy our country.
Heavenly Father, we praise you and thank you for your greatness and your great gifts. Father, we come into your throne room tonight with heavy hearts over the deaths of our three fallen patriots, Sgt. William Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Sanders and Spc. Breonna Moffett. Like Uriah, the hypocrisy of their deaths screams out for Your justice. Father, we ask Your mercy upon the souls of these three deceased countrymen. Bring them quickly to heaven and to the joy of Your presence. Father, we pray for their families – we implore You to be with them in a way that is, tangible, consoling and sweet. Bless them with your peace and Your joy that passes all understanding in this tragic moment. Send Your angels to be with these families, speak to them in their dreams with words of comfort and visions of heaven. Let Your presence be sweet as honey to them at this sad moment.
And Father, we plead your wrath upon America’s politicians and all who labor with them to decimate our nation. The losses are too many to count, the destruction of our nation is palpable from what we once were. Father just as you swiftly eradicated the Egyptians who held your people captive in a matter of moments, do the same to all of our politicians and enemies who have sold us out. Just as you sent your angels to slay 100,000 troops who threatened your people killing them in a single night, let your wrath pour out with equal haste and venom upon America’s politicians who have betrayed You and us. We need you Father. Look with mercy upon us, and in the sweet name of Your Son our Savior Jesus and accelerate Your rescue of our nation. Restore America to King Jesus. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Thank you for fasting with us tomorrow. You are doing more to help and honor our country than all of our politicians combined. You will be glad you made the effort for all of eternity.
1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church. (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)
2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.
3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.
4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.
Would you like to learn more about fasting?
We maintain a repository of ideas and information we have learned over the last decade while fasting weekly for America. From scientific studies on the benefits of fasting, to the differences between intermittent dieting vs intermittent fasting, to scriptural references regarding the power of fasting to the history of first century Christians who stated believers are obligated to fast weekly, we hope you will find numerous insights with our free resource located here.
Together let us also implore Heaven while fasting for intentions you have highlighted:
4) For all patriots who put themselves on the front lines in combatting evil and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors.
5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing.
6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
