Thank you to everyone who is making an effort on our incremental Fast for America as we start our third and final day. May we suggest again that if you didn’t start with us or if you paused to celebrate during the fast, complete our little three-day sacrifice to the Lord at some point in the days ahead. And if you haven’t participated with us at all in our three day fast, then consider doing so after Independence Day and America will be blessed by your sacrifice as will you.

Yesterday, the most studied gospel on the planet was a challenging passage, where Jesus explicitly warned us not to make our children into our God.

Idolatry of our children.

What a concept.

Matthew 10:37-42

37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

As a Baptist minister preached years ago having an impact on many:

“Whatever you spend the most time praying for, that is your God.” 

What should we be praying the most for? The spiritual - the only topic Jesus was willing to die for – conversions …  For God’s kingdom … For the renewal of our church and country….

So, as we begin our third and final consecutive day fasting, the end of a fast is a most powerful time to ask the Spirit for insights and guidance in all areas of our lives.  Let us begin by asking what is important to You Holy Spirit that we amend in our behavior?  What is important to You Holy Spirit that we focus on? And only then after praising Him, after repenting, after seeking His guidance in these most important areas, then we ask for guidance and help in all areas of our lives - children, parents, work, school, investments, loved ones, vacation choices, recipe ideas …. Every area of our lives. You are so important to Him, He has taken the time to number the hairs on your head. He is jealous of your love. Put Him first and then what a blessing it is that He wants to be so involved in the littlest details of our lives.

The most widely studied gospel passage in the world today is from John 20 when after Jesus appeared to His apostles following the resurrection, scripture shows the apostles waiting for eight more days before He appeared again. This is the passage where Thomas is absent and does not believe what other believers have experienced.  Imagine being locked in a room waiting for over a week for the Lord to come and guide them because they did not know what to do with their lives. It is interesting that it was again a period of nine days, just as it was nine days the apostles waited for the Holy Spirit ...  Scripture is not coincidentally guiding us towards persistence in prayer and novenas of prayer.

The passage concludes when Jesus addresses Thomas who like the Pharisees had arrogantly listed all of his requirements to believe. As the Lord speaks, we see Thomas capitulate with great embarrassment over his arrogance and lack of faith. And Jesus concludes with his strong admonition to Thomas, words for us today, as we fast for miracles in our country, in our church and in our families:

“do not be faithless, but believing”

Great blessings await America, our church and you. Thousands of years from now, when you would otherwise forget what you did on July 3, 2023, heaven will still be remembering your faith and your willingness to make this small sacrifice for the Lord that will change history. Good Friday made it look like Jesus had not accomplished anything and you may feel like your prayers and fasting are not accomplishing anything… but like Good Friday your sacrifice is accomplishing more than you comprehend.

In 1778 George Washington wrote the following about those who would not acknowledge God’s hand in America.

“The hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations.”

In conclusion here is an extraordinary talk that will peel back years of false learning that you and your children have been subjected to, Happy Birthday America!

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. 4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
