Thank you to all who are joining us in fasting this last day before tomorrow’s Thanksgiving feast.

On top of all its other benefits, fasting makes feasts so much more special.

You are doing so much to rescue America. On the surface many who you share Thanksgiving with may be despondent about America as they look at the headlines. Consider God’s plans and the timely words believers widely focused on recently from Romans 5:

20 Law came in, to increase the trespass; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more…

That is apropos to America today – government increasingly trespassing against everything the Lord says is dear to Him, but as government sin expanded, His grace abounds to an even greater degree.

And if you have the occasion to converse with other believers who don’t yet fast weekly, they probably don’t understand the impact their effort alone can have on history. In that light consider this snippet from the fasting pages on our website referencing 1 Kings 21:

A wicked king named Ahab led Israel into all that was evil. In verse 21, Elijah pronounced God’s judgement on Ahab and said that every male and female in his house will be destroyed. In verse 25 scripture describes Ahab going so far as to say, "But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up."  However, in verse 27 we see Elijah’s words resonated with evil Ahab and Ahab feared the Lord. Ahab tore his clothes and began fasting ... and heaven noticed. In verse 29 God Himself comments to Heaven about Ahab:

See how Ahab humbled himself [i.e., fasted] before me? Because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days…

Even an otherwise evil king was spared disaster through the power of fasting!

To the best of our knowledge (Please correct us if you can think of another passage that we are forgetting), this is the only time in scripture where the Lord addresses the heavenly court and calls to the angels’ attention that the behavior of a sinner has been so pleasing to Him, that the Lord reverses His condemnation and chooses to spare this horrific sinner from devastation.

It was fasting that brought about such mercy for these hard-core sinners. What a statement about the power of fasting by even one soul to change history.

Lastly, notice the words of God Himself:

Ahab humbled himself…

Because he humbleth himself…

This is consistent with David’s words in the psalms that to humble oneself means first to fast.  Keep that in mind when you discuss one of the most quoted bible verses as it relates to America, 2 Chronicles 7:14

…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Consistent with Yahweh’s words to Ahab and David’s words, humbling oneself was akin to fasting and should be considered fundamental to repairing our great nation.

Thank you for fasting with us today – You will be glad you made the effort for all of eternity.

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.
