Ahead of tomorrow’s feast day here are some thoughts from George Washington and our founders. This year we have made major progress as a nation in turning back towards the Lord with our repentance from RVW. Thank you for your ongoing fasting for our nation and first responders. But ahead of this week’s fasting, here are some quotes from our founders that we hope you and your family savor...

"I recommend to all persons whomsoever, to observe July 4th as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer: to render their sincere and hearty thanks to the great Ruler of Nations for the manifold mercies, which distinguish our lot as a nation."

Sisters and Brothers – As we approach the celebration of the birth of our Republic we wanted to remind you of President Washington’s directive as to how to celebrate the blessings of America so that we live by them as families.  I wanted to also share some amazing history that you may have forgotten and may wish to watch and discuss with your families friends and spread among believers.  First here are some data points passed on by David Barton:

While it may not surprise you that the 1^st meeting of American leaders among the colonies began with a prayer – Beyond the customary one minute invocation, did you know our founders prayed for two hours to begin the talks of our nation’s formation? John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail and shared with her the exciting news that God showed them while praying in Psalm 35.

Our founders instituted a day of prayer … and fasting! Adams was so excited about what the Lord showed them he wrote Abigail that America would defeat the British and achieve our independence … a ridiculous notion that was utterly impossible by man’s standards.

1400 times by 1815 the government issued calls for America’s citizens and public officials to pray for America! 1400 times by 1815!

John Hancock told the state “Fast and pray that the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may be established in peace and righteousness among all the nations of the earth”.

Hancock added, “Pray and confess our sins before God and implore His forgiveness through the merits and mediations of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior”. Clearly our founders despised political correctness – as we should!

After our 1^st day of prayer and fasting Adams wrote: We just captured a British fort. Had no military and we were fighting greatest military in the military in the world.

In 1778 George Washington wrote the following about those who would not acknowledge God’s hand in America.

“The hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations”

So thank so much for fasting with us this week – Just as a small group of Americans fasting was an indispensable spark in igniting the impossible American Revolution that had statistically 0% chance of success – Your effort fasting is carving your name in the annals of American history that will be acknowledged in heaven … forever.  This weekend be salt, be light, be joyful – don’t worry about the winds and waters that rage around you. We’ve stepped out of the boat – focus on Jesus. And praise the Lord as our praise castrates evil.  Last night was such a beautiful night in Pennsylvania. There was a silent Symphony of the Fireflies in the moonlit sky with a cool breeze. How great is Our God – Like our Savior savor quiet in nature and praise Him. It will refresh your soul, lift your spirits and color your weekend beautiful shades of red white and blue.  God bless, and God bless America!

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
