Today the most studied gospel passage in the world was from Matthew 15:29-37. It recounts one of Jesus’ most famous miracles, the feeding of many from seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. Here is the captivating passage:
29 And Jesus went on from there and passed along the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the mountain, and sat down there. 30And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the dumb, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, 31so that the throng wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. 32Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." 33And the disciples said to him, "Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?" 34And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish." 35And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground, 36he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 37And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
Notice Jesus’ words. Why did Jesus have compassion on these specific recipients of His generosity?
“because they have been with me now three days”.
Jesus chose to help this particular bunch of humanity because they were choosing Him first.
There were countless others who were in need at the time but Jesus specifically chose to bestow His generosity and compassion on those who were following the gospel.
Shouldn’t we as Christians imitate Jesus’ example?
Shouldn’t we seek to help those who are pursuing the gospel first? The beneficiaries of Jesus’ generosity had displayed a significant commitment to Him. While others did not show up due to various excuses and as a result missed His charity, these believers made the pilgrimage to be with Him and spent three days in prayer with Jesus. Notice we do not see these believers complaining about their lack of food or the difficulties of sleeping on a mountain for three days. They put the gospel first … and just as Scripture suggests “because” they put God first, God was true to His word and more than provided for them.
Let us also reflect on the significance of the duration – three days. That detail is not a coincidence.
And for those who suggest fasting on bread and water as first century Christians did so that we can maintain ample strength to go about our daily duties is too easy to be of spiritual benefit, notice the words of Jesus:
“I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."
Bread and water fasting is not extremely difficult.
It is just a tiny sacrifice made with joy to the Lord. It prevents us from feeling weak or fainting while fasting. It is an extension of Jesus’ concern specified in the gospels if we as believers fasted without having anything to eat.
Before concluding please know that we plan to release news of a major spiritual endeavor in the days ahead. Please pray that we move forward only as the Spirit would have us.
1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church. (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)
2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.
3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.
4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

We maintain a repository of ideas and information we have learned over the last decade while fasting weekly for America. Together let us also implore Heaven while fasting for intentions you have highlighted:
4) For all patriots who put themselves on the front lines in combatting evil and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors.
5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing.
6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
