Inflection points in history require that citizens step up with greater effort with physical as well as spiritual actions. For example, when given choice between good and evil, citizens must go to the polling places and vote, or reap the consequences. Militant secularism can invade only when the public sphere is devoid of strong faith. 

Likewise, many people are aware that though the battle looks like it is temporal, St. Paul tells us that it is, in fact, not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, and powers, and dominions (ranks of governance in the spiritual realm). Therefore, we do not require physical superheroes nor well organized groups to win a glorious victory. Rather, we need to appeal to Heaven, to the Lord of Hosts, i.e., the Lord of the Armies as scripture refers to God the Father.

We feel powerless to overcome the overwhelming global evil that seems to be clutching us by the throats and threatening the future of our children and grandchildren. When we admit our impotence and beg and beseech God to fight for us, He knows that now we see the big picture correctly, and His angelic powers will do the fighting in ways we can’t even imagine.

For our playbook, we take as our example Jesus’ fasting in the desert in preparation for His ministry- a ministry in which he would encounter demons, obstinate Pharisees, and treachery from within his inner circle.

Jesus ate nothing for 40 days in preparation for doing battle to rescue His people. We can presume that he found small sources of water perhaps in the crevices of rocks or the morning dew. As His body grew weaker, His mind grew clearer, and The Spirit within Him grew stronger. When the devil came to attack, tempting Him to eat, tempting Him to accept temporal power, tempting Him with glory, and tempting him to kill Himself, one could think that it was simply a battle of wits.

But we’d be wrong.

We have no idea what it is like to directly battle the devil. The Bible tells us that after it was over, “angels came to minister to him.” 

Since most of us would agree that the battle has been intensifying over the last few years, we are calling all spiritual warriors to step up with us for a three day fast beginning this Sunday November 6^th and running through Tuesday evening as the election comes to a close. We ask you to join us and endeavor to eat nothing for these three days, only allowing yourself to have some water as you feel you need it … in the example of Our Savior.

This will be hard, without a doubt. We may get weaker and need to lie down on our couches, hammocks and beds. We encourage everyone to pray the Psalter over the three days, praying all the mysteries of the rosary each day. For our dear protestant brothers who will step up and join us in our Fast for America who do not pray the rosary (yet?), we encourage you to reflect on the biblical mysteries of the rosary from the Wedding of the Holy Spirit through to Pentecost. We also encourage our protestant brothers to speak the name of Jesus into the world throughout the day, hundreds of times, as the rosary forces its meditators to do each day, releasing the Power of Jesus’ Holy Name.

This fast is a tall order, but please, consider, pray, and ask God to train you for this battle. If you can’t do this fast, ask God what fast you can do. Then do it. Countless American ancestors died so that we could live in freedom – the mantle of responsibility for freedom is now ours. Though now we walk by faith, in heaven we will be astounded by the damage that we did to the forces of evil and the victories both seen and unseen we won from our fasting efforts.

Thank you for fasting with us today as well on bread and water as part of our normal Friday fast that 1^st century Christians emphatically said all believers are obligated to do. Savor some good food tomorrow, then we’ll change history together with this incremental three day fast.  You will be glad you made the effort for all of eternity.

1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
