Praising With The Baptists
"In prayer you shall perceive ... the way out of every situation that has no exit." |
____________________________________________________________________________ This Sunday I had the opportunity to worship with our Baptist brothers at Five Points Church while traveling through Alabama. Pastor Drew’s service was based upon one and a half versus from Psalm 33
He is our help and our shield… … Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Does anyone know how many times the Bible tells believers to call on the name of the Lord?
Does anyone know how many times the Bible tells us to praise the name of the Lord?
We do not have conviction about those explicit totals but clearly the answer to both is a lot.
Conversely what is the name that has been stricken from our culture? What is the most politically incorrect word in America today?
It is our shield.
It is our help.
It is Jesus.
It was necessary for evil to remove Jesus‘ name from our culture in order to make the tremendous progress that evil did.
Could the Bible really have meant what it said? That God is our help and our shield because we have trusted in the name of Jesus?
All of creation waited for years to hear the great reveal – what would the Messiah’s name be? What would the most powerful name be that would conquer evil just by mentioning it?
Then the moment of the great reveal – Jesus … and the angels fell in adoration. A name so holy … the angels probably would not have believed that in our day we would have no idea of the power at our disposal with His name … but we were duped by evil.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that you have such power to release from the spoken word of your lips… Jesus?
And how wonderful it is to be able to dispel evil. On Monday the book of Revelation Chapter 11 was one of the most widely studied passages in the world. Think of being around young undisciplined kids who do nothing but bicker and argue. Doesn’t that create a miserable mood? Scripture reminded us Monday as to how miserable it is to be in satan’s presence …
who accuses [believers] day and night before our God.
Can you imagine listening to him all day and night blame and accuse? What a miserable atmosphere satan brings.
In contrast, Pastor Drew made one other point to pass along. Before he left his grandfather’s home his grandfather where the ambiance was always filled with love, his grandfather would always say to him: “You know – I love you.” And no matter how much trouble the future pastor was in, the words meant so much in the depths of his heart. Perhaps we can double down on our resolution that will share those words in such a way with the world around us.
Thank you for fasting with us today. Let us call on the name of Jesus even if only softly under our breath throughout this day. ____________________________________________________________________________ |
Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions 1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be. 2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold. 3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine. 4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors.
