The Importance of Prayer When Fasting
“If you … witness courageously, the truth will miraculously win.” – Medjugorje June 2, 2015

____________________________________________________________________________ Friends, We all hopefully know that fasting is an adjunct to prayer, not the other way around. Prayer does not supercharge fasting; fasting supercharges prayer. Prayer without fasting does reach God’s ear, we know that. But fasting without prayer is just dieting.
Prayer is the foundation for communicating with God- whether we are praising or petitioning Him. Fasting adds contrition and repentance, thereby showing God our seriousness or willingness to do something for Him and not just always asking Him for things. Does God need our fasting? Of course not. Just as He doesn’t need our money. The benefit for fasting and almsgiving is entirely ours. It is so good for us to restrain our selfish desires by fasting, just as it is so good for us to live generously and not grinchishly.
On our fasting day then, it is imperative that we pray-pray for what our hearts long for and pray for forgiveness for how we have fallen short. In our modern world, most people hardly allow their minds to stop receiving input, so taking time out for prayer in a quiet room or an Adoration Chapel is so helpful for hearing the voice of God.
Many people describe the voice as a “voice in the heart.” In other words, a voice that seems not to be my own, breaking into my thoughts with an idea that had not occurred to me before.
Entering into an Adoration Chapel can be an otherworldly experience. Incredibly, the God of the universe, who knows everything about everyone, and who is Wisdom itself, can be consulted about any issue we might have, significant or small. Some people experience a gentle nudge in a new direction, and others have received a download of a “direction manual” on how to handle an issue. Still others might value simply sitting with Jesus and smiling at Him. How can we imagine that God receives our adoration with anything other than love itself? How could we not want that, to be loved as we were meant to be loved, by the only One who can love us perfectly?
Brothers and sisters, let us not waste our fast days by praying tepidly. We need our country back. We need the evil architects of the Great Reset to be made powerless. We need to take back the education of our children. We need to see the snares of the devil in greed, lust and the other deadly sins. We need mothers and fathers to inestimably value the children they have helped God create and not to regard them as disposable by abortion. We need our torn apart families to be created anew. We need marriage to be seen as the bedrock that it is and not ridiculed as anything man would like it to be. We need good governance. We need the Church to be cleansed with cords as Jesus cleansed the temple. We need parents to continuously spoon-feed their children the faith as if it were living bread and living water- because it is.
Thank you, each one of you!- for taking prayer and fasting so seriously. You will never regret it, and you will reap the rewards for all of eternity. Click Here & Join Us - Receive Our Free Fasting Reminders ____________________________________________________________________________ |
Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions 1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be. 2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold. 3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine. 4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors. |
