The news was dramatic last week from the western US. Thousands journeyed into the wilderness of the Nevada desert. Unexpectedly a storm arose and a deluge ensued that was so intense, the desert floor was transformed into a mud pit. The mud was so thick, even modern-day four-wheel-drive chariots were unable to averse the terrain. The downpour was so intense thousands were stranded, at least one person died and it appeared it would take days for the travelers to be able to return home.

Suddenly a believer told the crowd that a great sign would appear in the sky at high noon. As 12 o’clock struck, an extraordinary phenomenon in the sky was indeed seen by all present and even by those as far as 10 miles away.  The sun appeared to move in the sky as no one had ever seen before. At the same time instantly the Nevada desert mud dried up releasing the stranded chariots so that all could leave in peace. The transformation of the area was so complete it was as if nothing had happened. 

Fellow believers, while the first paragraph above is true and thousands were trapped in the Nevada desert last week, the second paragraph above is not true. 

Why write a paragraph like that, one that is so sensational if it is not true?

We wrote it because we were struck by the similarities between what happened at the burning Man concert in Nevada’s wilderness last week, and signs and wonders of Fatima. Imagine if the second paragraph was true … then we would better understand why Fatima is so special.

On October 13, 1917 approximately 75,000 people traveled by horse and on foot to come to Fatima through the wilderness of Portugal to be present when the Mother of the Redeemer was expected to appear. Some traveled for days. What ensued at Fatima was perhaps the most dramatic sign and wonder of the 20^th century.  At high noon the sun appeared to rip from its place in the universe and hurdle through the sky.  Many thought it was the end of the world. In that brief instant, the mud that had trapped many carriages in Portugal just as it did last week in Nevada, instantly dried up. It was as if there had never been a downpour in Fatima. 

The instantaneous drying of the cake-like mud in Fatima was one of three extraordinary miracles that day. The second and most famous was the aforementioned miracle of the sun and its dramatic movement in the sky.

The third miracle that day is the least spoken about miracle from October 13, 1917 but perhaps it is the greatest of the miracles.

Namely it was the instantaneous conversion of virtually all present including communists, atheists and those who the bible describes as vomit in God’s mouth – the conversion of the lukewarm churchgoers.

Tomorrow as we fast, the calendar marks September 13^th. Fatima’s signs and wonders all occurred on the 13^th of the month, echoing Esther and the date Old Testament believers were rescued in dramatic fashion by the Lord.  September 13^th was significant in itself in Fatima. The three visionaries of Fatima who claimed to speak with Mary were ages 7, 9 and 10. These three children had been jailed by the government on August 13^th to prevent them from going to the site of the apparitions.  Freed from prison, the three children returned to the grove on September 13^th where they saw Mary and the crowd of witnesses observed white rose petals falling from the heavens as Mary appeared to the children. It was a legendary sign and wonder of its own.

With such dramatic signs to garner the attention of people around the world, what was the key message Mary spoke to all believers at Fatima?

“People must amend their lives, ask forgiveness for their sins and not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.”

Amend our lives means repent.

We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. 4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
