Why Believe Your Little Effort Today Matters So Much?
"When you pray, pray first for the Holy Spirit because when you have the Holy Spirit, you have everything." - Medjugorje April 4, 1985 |
____________________________________________________________________________ It is good for us to study the enemy and be cognizant of evil’s strategies so that we may recognize its efforts to ruin everything dear to you. Evil is good at speaking to us through people, particularly those close to us, with innocuous comments. Often these comments seem to be in our best interests but are not. Evil is also excellent at disguising its voice such that we think our own thoughts are floating through our minds when it is really evil, trying to trick us to misstep. We must train our minds and spirits to be attentive to this.
As it relates to the above, one of evil‘s go-to strategies is to discourage believers from contemplating the magnitude of impact they can have on history and impacting lives through prayer and fasting.
As usual, evil’s lies to us could not be further from the truth. Consider a tiny effort made by one person 2000 years ago.
His name is forgotten by history.
He was likely uneducated and nearly penniless.
He was dismissed as a nobody as he stepped into an urgent situation where reason suggested he should not even bother to try.
It was exactly the model the Lord loves to use to change the world.
The Lord doesn’t need us for anything, but He chooses to reveal His power and presence when little us step forward and try. Consider this iconic scene, perhaps one of history‘s most extraordinary moments:
John 6 … Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4 The Jewish Passover Festival was near. 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
The Lord waited for somebody to step forward and try.
When this little boy did so, think of how his effort impacted the world. He was willing to give up just one lunch on one day and with his little sacrifice:
God fed more than 5,000 people.
Likely many came to know Jesus because of that event.
For 2000 years since that lunch, this boy’s effort has been remembered through the generations, on every continent.
The one lunch he sacrificed has inspired countless millions of souls.
His little effort will be celebrated for all of eternity in heaven.
All believers look forward to meeting him in heaven and hearing more about the one little lunch he sacrificed.
Just because no one will likely write about your sacrifice today, giving up your lunch and just having bread and water, doesn’t mean your effort is going to be any less powerful than what came from that little boy’s effort 2000 years ago.
God hides the multitude of blessings that flow from your efforts in this life. Just as those at the foot of the cross could not see with their eyes all of the good coming from that moment, our eyes do not see all of the good coming from your little fast today.
If today or any day you forgot it was a fasting day, get up, brush off the “forgot” and fast with us the rest of the day. satan tries to tell you that your fast must be severe for it to do any good.
God shows us the reality is that all we have to do is make a little sacrifice, even giving up just one lunch with joyful hearts like this little boy, and heaven’s treasure chest of miracles are unlocked.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions 1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be. 2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold. 3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine. 4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors. |
