Thank you to each of you who join with us and fast each week for the restoration of America and for the protection of our gallant military, police and firefighters. Thank you also again for fasting with us last week as we began the year with a three-day fast seeking heaven's miracles. On the surface it may appear as though nothing significant happened. And perhaps it did not. However let us watch and see what unfolds. Your fasting efforts captured heaven's attention as scripture shows us and perhaps last week’s miracle was similar to the Annunciation in that it took the world a few months to realize that a seed of greatness had been planted. To the naked eye 2000 years ago nothing had changed. But heaven knew and like your belief last week, it was Mary's expression of belief that forever changed history. So don't let evil discourage you - in thousands of years heaven will still be celebrating how your courageous and generous effort forever impacted history.

Some of our fellow believers are of the view that because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for us, no further sacrifice is needed. Believers tell us God made us to enjoy life ... He would not want us to fast ... and certainly not to fast regularly they continue.  And as it relates to sin, many believers also tell us that no atonement for our sins is expected from heaven.  Along those lines, the most studied New Testament scripture the last 24 hours was from Hebrews 2 including verse 17:

He had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make expiation for the sins of the people.

How blessed we are that He did become a merciful and faithful high priest for us whose death was necessary to restore us with God and open the gates of paradise for humanity. It may be worth reflecting on how in the Jewish scriptures there certainly existed the centrality and necessity of the priest to intervene on behalf of sinners. Sinners however were also expected to bring free will offerings to the Lord - their own sacrifice willingly presented in participation with the priest for a complete spiritual cleansing.

It does not detract from the uniqueness of Jesus’ offering on the cross which alone makes salvation a possibility to contemplate that perhaps our eternal God still desires His believers make free will offerings to Him in concert with the mediation of our high priest.

It is of particular importance that our free will offerings to Him be made with joy and humility. The Christ showed us in His parable that we are not to be like the hard-hearted theologians and clergy who fasted twice weekly only because of the law. Our disposition needs to be like the remorseful sinner whose heart was right with God when he fasted. So today as we fast let us be conscious of and express to the Lord how tiny our sacrifice is with a bread and water fast, and how great the sacrifice was of our high priest. But with joyful hearts we lay today's tiny sacrifice at our Lord's feet as we thank Him for the great things He has done for us and that He is doing for us in this present moment.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.
