A Transformed Martha Unlocks A Resurrection

"In prayer you shall perceive ... the way out of every situation that has no exit."

"Do novenas of fasting and renunciation so that satan be far from you and grace be around you"                                                                                                             -  Medjugorje July 25, 2005

While we are fasting tomorrow the most studied gospel passage in the world will be one of scripture's most extraordinary, the resurrection of Lazarus. Consider this spellbinding scene after Jesus' dear friend had been in the tomb for four days, a period long enough that a cadaver would have begun to disintegrate:

JOHN 11:17-27

17Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, 19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 20When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary sat in the house. 21Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you." 23Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" 27She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world."

The transformation in Martha from when we previously saw her in scripture is dramatic.

In her first meeting with Jesus, she is like the modern-day social worker - consumed with feeding the hungry and working a never ending To Do List. In that encounter, Jesus chastised her for having her priorities out of order and upheld Mary's choice to pray and adore the Lord as most important. The joy that is released in one's soul from embracing God first and the power of that teaching was not missed on Martha.  In her second encounter with Jesus, we see Martha cast aside her tasks of the day and race to see Jesus. She longs to spend even a moment with him one-on-one before the crowds surround him. And now with her priorities in order, God first and serving others a far distant second, Martha is given the opportunity to proclaim her belief that Jesus is the Messiah.  Her belief unlocks a miracle for the ages.

In contrast to Martha's faith, when believers expected little scripture shows even Jesus was unable to perform great miracles. God is always ready. Scripture repeatedly tells us today is the day and now is the moment to expect great blessings. Evil thrives when our expectations are minimal and our belief lukewarm. Expect great things from the Lord in your life.

Heaven will notice your fast tomorrow.

You will be one of the few believers worldwide making the effort to fast, standing up to be counted. You resolve shines despite clergy teaching that regular fasting is not necessary, despite Jesus' words that His followers would fast, despite the acts of the apostles, and despite the writings of first century Christians.  Your faith places you in a position to receive great blessings and like Martha you stand before the Lord, and you have His attention.

Expect The Spirit to do great things in your life like we saw with Lazarus millennia ago and with Dani, just last week.

Thank you for fasting with us tomorrow - You will be glad you made the effort for all of eternity.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

Would you like to learn more about fasting?

We maintain a repository of ideas and information we have learned over the last decade while fasting weekly for America. From scientific studies on the benefits of fasting, to the differences between intermittent dieting vs intermittent fasting, to scriptural references regarding the power of fasting to the history of first century Christians who stated believers are obligated to fast weekly, we hope you will find numerous insights with our free resource located here.

Together let us also implore Heaven while fasting for intentions you have highlighted:

4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior,  protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them.

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
