Dear Brothers and Sisters,

  These forty days from Easter until Ascension are such a mysterious time! Jesus showed up unpredictably in various places, appearing out of nowhere. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene in the garden, and she thought He was the gardener. Isn’t it interesting to think of Mary asking Jesus directly where they had taken Jesus’ body? Only when He says “Mary!” are her eyes opened that she was talking to Him! Later that day, He was walking to Emmaus some seven miles away from Jerusalem and journeyed with Cleopas, St Joseph’s brother, and another disciple. All the while He was talking to them, they didn’t recognize Him, (his own uncle didn’t recognize Him!) until, UNTIL, He broke bread with them. That same evening, Jesus went through a locked door to join all His disciples, except for Thomas (where were you then, Thomas?) for a precious moment in which He breeeeeeathed on them and conferred the authority to forgive sins. Prior to that, they had had the authority to heal the sick and cast out demons, but not the authority to forgive sins. All of that, on the first day!

For the rest of the forty days, the disciples could not follow Jesus around as they had for the three previous years. He just showed up unpredictably. Recall the disciples were back to their old job of fishing because they didn’t have a clear mandate to do anything else yet? (Thomas was there this time!) Precisely where Jesus had encountered the men at first, mending their fishing nets by the sea, He now called out to them from the shore, instructing them on which side to fish, and they hauled in their largest catch ever, which, as the Gospel tells us, did not break the net! Do you think that at that moment, what He had said to them three years prior, “I will make you fishers of men” would begin to make sense?

Lastly, many of us know that Jesus’ private conversation on the beach with Peter after their campfire breakfast reflected Peter’s threefold denial. “Do you love me? Do you love me? Did you love me’” repeated three times was designed to take Peter deeper to the heart of the question. We might imagine Peter’s responses as 1)”Yep! For sure” 2)”Um, huh..yeah!?” And 3)”Oh.” At that moment, Peter was given a very concrete job: to take over watching the sheep for Christ. This huge job and all of its requirements, one might imagine, would take a while to fully sink in for Peter, but he devoted the rest of his life to it, even all the way to his own cross. He never denied Jesus again.

We encourage you to mine each one of these appearances in 3-D imagination to let the Lord speak to you. Perhaps you are unsure of what your mission is at this moment, but as you are waiting for word, believe the words of Mary when she told the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!!” that you too will see Him and receive your mission from Him.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
