Peg and Alma wrote in from Florida and brought to our attention the following:

All believers are asked to join in a day of prayer and fasting – today (Friday, December 15th) for the defeat of Florida's abortion amendment initiative. 

Please do not be lukewarm in your prayer and fasting for this important intention.

In Ohio - where as you probably know, a radical constitutional amendment was just passed to legalize unrestricted abortion - 52% of Catholics voted yes. 

If this abortion amendment manages to reach the ballot and if it passes and becomes part of our Florida state constitution  (they are generously funded and extremely deceptive), it will mean millions of unborn babies slaughtered. The stakes couldn't be higher. This proposed state constitutional amendment:

• Would legalize abortion up to birth, even allowing the gruesome partial-birth abortion.
• Does not require a medical doctor, only a healthcare professional, to determine if an abortion is necessary to protect a woman's life.
• Would eliminate the current law concerning parental consent for minors. It only requires parental notification, which could be done after an abortion, leaving parents out of the decision.
• Would eliminate abortion clinic safety regulations, putting women's health at risk.
• Would eliminate the 24-hour waiting period which gives a woman time to stop and think.
• Uses the term "patient health" which is extremely broad and would allow abortion for practically any reason.
• Would allow abortion when the baby in the womb can feel pain.
• Could eliminate all current restrictions on abortion and prevent Florida legislators from passing laws to limit abortion at all.

Our Lord told us that this kind of evil is only driven out by prayer and fasting.

Please share with your family and friends, and together let us offer prayers and sacrifices for the sanctity of life that is under such extreme threat in our state.

Interestingly, today the most widely studied old testament passage was from ISAIAH 48:17-19

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. 18O that you had hearkened to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;

And the most widely studied psalm today also linked obedience to the Commandments with blessings…

PSALMS 1:1-4, 6

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 

Recall too the clear words from the Didache, “you shall not murder a child by abortion”.

Today as we pray and fast let us pray for a decisive victory for the Lord’s commandments in the great state of Florida. Please take a moment and join us in praying the exorcist’s prayer over evil this morning and every day over any situation where evil may be prowling to destroy believers and repentance. We pray to blind evil, bind evil and to send it to the foot of the cross to die in defeat:
