Return to Me with all your heart
"You are [easily] deceived, because you don't know the scriptures or the power of God." - Matt 22:29 |
____________________________________________________________________________ “What do we need Lent for? We already fast and seek to repent so much.”
It is with great embarrassment I admit that thought floated through my mind in recent days.
Then the Holy Spirit seemed to share a more proper perspective:
Jesus was perfect.
Jesus was sinless.
Yet Jesus began numerous miracles by praying more.
Jesus began every day that we see timestamped in scripture by praying during the fourth watch.
Yet, despite His perfection, despite His power to accomplish the extraordinary, and despite all of His prayers and fasting, He began the major new chapter in His life with 40 days of even more prayer and fasting.
Isn’t His example a blueprint for us, showing us that when we have something important to do, it is critical to begin by praying and fasting for the power of the Holy Spirit to be with us?
So, as we prepare to embark on this exciting new chapter in our lives that is beginning now, marked as Jesus marked His all-important chapter in life with a 40 day fast, we simply imitate Jesus with more prayer and more fasting during this Lent.
Yesterday, as we transitioned into Lent, the most studied gospel in the world was from Mark 8:
"Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened?”
The disciples were focused on their inability to overcome their problems.
Focus on Him who is the solution to every issue.
Yesterday’s words melted into the first words of Lent’s most studied passages worldwide today:
12"Yet even now," says the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; 13and rend your hearts and not your garments…. 18Then the LORD became jealous for his land, and had pity on his people. – Joel 2
It is exciting that we have such a big new albeit mysterious chapter ahead of us.
Taking back the church. Taking back America. Opening extraordinary blessings upon ourselves and our families. Let’s pray…
… Dear Lord - we rejoice that You are jealous over us as Your word speaks this very day.
Jealous – that You want your church back.
Jealous - that You want America back.
To make these cesspools of corruption and evil both beautiful again.
And jealous that You want blessings upon Your children.
We thank you for looking with mercy as we try to rend our hearts because You asked. We thank you for Your jealously, for coming back as Your word says to rescue Your church, Your nation and Your families. We are repenting and fasting this lent because You asked us to listen to Your Son when You spoke at the river Jordan … and we are following the example of Jesus, our king. Thank you Father that Jesus is the King of kings and we are His. Thank you Lord for bestowing on us Your blessings as His kings as we seek You first. We believe in Your overflowing mercy and generosity. To Your name be all the glory, now and forever. Thank you for fasting with us today. Compared to our Esther Fast it is easy but you will be glad you made the effort for all of eternity. Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions 1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church. (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16) 2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be. 3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf. 4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine. 4) For all patriots who put themselves on the front lines in combatting evil and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors. |
