On this day where the world tries to find love, it is so good to know we serve the King of Hearts who has such wonderful plans in store for those who love Him.

As the news broke to much of the nation this morning with the dismaying moves by government in Eastern OH, it was not coincidence what today’s most studied gospel passages were in the world. From the Old Testament:

GENESIS 6:5-8; 7:1-5, 10

5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually... every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground."

It was the Lord's Great Reset.

Note the changed weather pattern, i.e. the flood, was not caused by global warming - it was the result of sin.

What a wonderful story of protection it is for those who followed God:

8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD...

because …

5 Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him.

And what a wonderful new day the Lord created as He wiped out all of the evil in the world and remade it in His image. He made it better when all looked lost.

And so while we are awake to what is going on around us, awake to evil's snares that have been so meticulously laid for us, let us choose to have the disposition God desires of us.  He looks out across the world, searching for those with hearts who focus on Him and not the day's worries. Today the most widely studied psalm in the world encapsulates our disposition to the Lord:

PSALMS 29:1-4, 3, 9-10

1 Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; worship the LORD in holy array.

3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, upon many waters.

4 The voice of the LORD is powerful, the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

9 The voice of the LORD makes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forests bare; and in his temple all cry, "Glory!"

10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king for ever.

The Lord's voice is over the waters ...

Over the waters in Eastern Ohio and everywhere. None are truly forsaken. The King of hearts is "king forever".

And then consider today's most widely studied gospel passage in the world. Notice how differently Jesus speaks of Herod as opposed to Caesar.  And His words towards His greatest enemies, the bishops of the day …

MARK 8:14-21

14 Now they had forgotten to bring bread; and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. 15And he cautioned them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod." 16And they discussed it with one another, saying, "We have no bread." 17And being aware of it, Jesus said to them, "Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? 19When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" They said to him, "Twelve." 20"And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" And they said to him, "Seven." 21And he said to them, "Do you not yet understand?"

Don’t the apostles remind you of us?

Knuckleheads.

They set out on a journey at sea - and they forgot to bring any provisions? How unprepared they were like we often feel … Or did they have everything they needed despite what the world told them?

We have everything we need.

And so tonight as we enjoy whatever little celebrations you may have planned for this day be it a simple dessert with someone, or if Jesus is your date tonight a few extra minutes with Him just contemplating how much He loves you ... Let us resolve to fast with our hearts tomorrow.

That means telling God our little sacrifice is nothing, King of Hearts. Your sacrifice for us was huge, while ours is so tiny. But we give it to You with joy like the drummer boy in Bethlehem. So happy to be here with You and making this little offering for Your joy, King.

The timing of your response is urgent.

Clergy both Catholic and protestant have completely vacated their obligation to lead congregations to fast weekly and this mistake has empowered evil.  Here is the most current message from Medjugorje for the world. We challenge any naysayer about Medjugorje to show us an event that has spawned more conversions to Jesus or greater signs and wonders over the last forty years. So while catholic bishops say close your ears to this message, Heaven says listen up:

January 25, 2023

"Dear children! Pray with me for peace, because satan wants war and hatred in hearts and peoples. Therefore, pray and sacrifice your days by fasting and penance, that God may give you peace. The future is at a crossroads, because modern man does not want God. That is why mankind is heading to perdition. You, little children, are my hope. Pray with me, that what I began in Fatima and here may be realized. Be prayer and witness peace in your surroundings, and be people of peace. Thank you for having responded to my call."

In conclusion we pray for the people of Ohio who are so impacted by this treason, for their communities and homes, for their water and all that they have been made stewards over, for the firefighters and service personnel in Ohio who have been denied food and support - for miracles to cover them and protect them.

And as you see headlines and stories from Ohio, here is a song to praise Him with that is God's perspective looking down on us. Do not despair…

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.
