Yesterday, the most widely studied old testament scripture in the world was from Haggai. For new fasters, our perspective is that while all studying of scripture is timely, it is not a coincidence what the Holy Spirit moved people to focus on more than any other passage in a given day.

The topic has been on our hearts - the desire of the Lord to rebuild his house, the church.

For mainstream protestants and Catholics, this is not a trivial matter – while the physical edifices may be in acceptable condition, the spiritual body of the church has been decimated.

By this, we mean the spiritual lives of those who are on paper, Christian. And while you may say, what concern is this to you personally, let us interject that we feel the Lord is laying out the sequence of what must take place first and it is the restoration of the church before we can restore the country.

Consider the words of Haggai from yesterday's widely studied scripture passage. 

3Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, 4"Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?5Now therefore thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider how you have fared.6You have sown much, and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes. 7"Thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider how you have fared.8Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may appear in my glory, says the LORD.

To us, one of satan's great distractions has been to advance Judas's ideas from our pulpit - distract believers to go and serve the poor financially, often in far away countries, ignoring the call that Jesus called his apostles to:

To evangelize.

How much better off wood our youth be if instead of our strong believers spending their time, their talent and their treasure, helping people, they don't know from far away, they poured those resources into calling our own back to the Lord?

Our charitable passion should be focused on evangelizing in our back yard and more broadly America. 

Jesus didn't die so that believers and non-believers could have wall-to-wall carpeting. He died so that everyone could come to heaven. And what was his message, and the message of Saint Paul and the message of John the Baptist and the message of the apostles?

Repent.

 Do you think that is the top priority among the social justice crowd?

Not at all. 

It is very exciting to see what the Spirit is revealing to people as evil’s masks fall, and evil is finally being recognized as to who they are.

Your fasting is having a bigger impact than you can imagine on our spiritual battle.

Fasting is the only weapon that takes evil down when it is strong like it is today and our pastors from all denominations have failed to lead by example and lead in teaching in this topic. 

Jesus told us - prayer alone will fail every time evil is strong. Do you think evil is strong looking at the world’s headlines today?

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church.  (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)

2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.

4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
