Several months ago, we were in Arizona when a client said to us:

"Sin blinds"

Think about that. The implications are huge.

Obviously the world would reject that statement as condescending and arrogant Christianity.

But … could it be true?

Today, that very topic was on the mind of the Holy Spirit. The most studied Old Testament passage in the world was from the book of Wisdom including 2:21 -

“their wickedness blinded them,”

It does not get any clearer than that.  The full verse reads:

21Thus they [tried to reason], but they were led astray, for their wickedness blinded them,

How often have we seen that story replayed? Someone thinks they are reasoning appropriately, being logical, diligent, conducting thorough research on a topic, yet they are totally wrong. We think we are being reasonable, but as scripture explains our sin blinds us from truth.

The following verse continues, saying:

22  [they were blinded as] they did not know the secret purposes of God, nor hope for the wages of holiness, nor discern the prize for blameless souls;

The wages of holiness are referring to the blessings of obeying His commands in this life and the prize for those who are blameless is referring to life after death. 

To give up hoping and expecting that the Lord will sustain and rescue us is a  tragic mistake.

The most studied gospel in the world today was from John 7 and continued the topic recounting another time when people thought they were being reasonable and logical. In this case they were even quoting scriptures but their pride did not allow them to realize they were interpreting the word incorrectly. They are speaking of why it is reasonable to believe that Jesus was not the Christ:

27 Yet we know where this man comes from; and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from."

Obviously, they did not know where Jesus came from – they did not know that He had been conceived by the Holy Spirit rather than by St Joseph.  But they emphatically thought they knew and no one could explain otherwise as their sin blinded them. 

Doesn't that explain so much about America today, lettered yet ignorant?

Why can't people see the war that is being raged against America? Why do we have to argue for what is clear? For securing our borders? For having honest elections? For all of the obvious issues that we Have been unable to advance?

Scripture is showing us the pecking order – job #1 to restore America politically is not to take political action – scripture shows us it is to repent so that we can remove the blindness that sin inflicts upon us.

Our protestant brothers rightly preach what they call the gospel of grace. In a nutshell, it says that no man can earn his way into heaven by his own works, because the law holds us to a standard of perfection, and we all fall short. It is only through the grace of Jesus' death that we are blessed to have the opportunity for salvation.

While this is 100% true, it is equally true, that we should feel urgency to root out any sin in our lives. Let us not refer to these as “mistakes” or “shortcomings” as an important component of wisdom is calling things with they are, and this is sin. As Jesus commanded us:

“Sin no more.” – John 5:14

As we head into the weekend let us resolve to remove the blinders of sin in our lives. That will please the Lord and help us to reason better in all areas of our lives.  Let’s focus on the three most important commandments from Moses:

First we will put God above all things including money, and we will not compromise His law in pursuit of any other God such as our riches.

Secondly, we will not take the name of Jesus in vain, and we will lift up the name of Jesus, the name through which our help comes.

And thirdly this Sunday and every Sunday, let us resolve that we will not do office work, we will not work at home such as cleaning the yard or doing laundry and as scripture says we will not have any others work for us which means we will not shop for food, go out for meals or conduct commerce. We will live the sabbath, the command that has more written about it than all of the other commandments combined, as the Lord intended us to live.

Thank you for fasting with us today even though most Christians deny their obligation to do so. Bread and water fasting with a little olive oil or butter as first century Christians practiced is so easy.   As heaven has also clearly revealed, when we fast we will see things differently - We will have our blinders more completely removed to recognize truth in this life. And you will be glad you made the effort, for all of eternity. 

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church.  (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)

2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.

4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
