Good Friday & Restoring The Church Today
"When you pray, pray first for the Holy Spirit because when you have the Holy Spirit, you have everything." - Medjugorje April 4, 1985 |
____________________________________________________________________________ As dawn breaks on Good Friday, join us as we endeavor to stretch and have nothing to eat and nothing to drink today. Obviously this is much more intense than our standard bread and water fast … but not eating or drinking was the smallest sacrifice in Jesus’ day 2,000 years ago. As He looks down from Heaven like torches ablaze in the night He will see your effort and He will find solace in you amidst a world of ingratitude.
Expect to be very thirsty early in your fast as evil tries to discourage you but if you persevere, you may find your fast becomes easier as the day progresses and perhaps as evil loses some of its grip in your life.
On this special day we are adding a core intention to our ongoing Fast For America endeavor - that believers will have success in taking back the church from the evil that governs it today. We are thinking this from the perspective of the Catholic church but also see a similar need from the Anglican church and other mainstream protestant churches that have been corrupted. And what an exciting idea that is – to have a church run by Christians rather than the satanic agents that Christ and Paul warned us would devour us if we were not awake. Let this not disturb you - Part of the good news is that our God is a God of miracles and restoring His church is a grace that He has clearly cherished over the millennia.
As it relates to a perspective that spans millennia, for our last reflection this Lent, here are some thoughts written by first century Christians in the Didache. While not currently part of the Bible there is no dispute as to the authenticity of this ancient manuscript.
Before dismissing these ideas because they may be different than what you were taught in church under the direction of modern-day imprimaturs, consider how these words are aligned with Medjugorje and some of the sources of greatest revival today…
Passages From The Didache
Chapter 1. The Two Ways; The First Commandment - If one receives [food, shelter or financial charity] who has need, he is guiltless; but he who receives not having need shall pay the penalty, why he received and for what. And coming into confinement, he shall be examined concerning the things which he has done, and he shall not escape from there until he pays back the last penny.
And also concerning this, it has been said, Let your alms sweat in your hands, until you know to whom you should give.
Chapter 2. The Second Commandment: Gross Sin Forbidden - You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born.
Chapter 4. Various Precepts - Seek out day by day the faces of the saints, in order that you may rest upon their words.
Chapter 5. The Way of Death - And the way of death is this: First of all it is evil and full of curse: murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, magic arts, witchcrafts, rapines, false witnessing, hypocrisies, double-heartedness, deceit, haughtiness, depravity, self-will, greediness, filthy talking, jealousy, over-confidence, loftiness, boastfulness; persecutors of the good, hating truth, loving a lie, not knowing a reward for righteousness,
Chapter 7. Concerning Baptism. And concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water.
Chapter 8. Fasting and Prayer - fast on the fourth day (Wednesday) and the Preparation (Friday)
Chapter 9. The Eucharist - But let no one eat or drink of your Eucharist, unless they have been baptized into the name of the Lord; for concerning this also the Lord has said, "Give not that which is holy to the dogs."
Chapter 10. Prayer After Communion - But after you are filled, thus give thanks: We thank You, holy Father, for Your holy name which You caused to tabernacle in our hearts... If anyone is holy, let him come; if anyone is not so, let him repent.
Chapter 12. Reception of Christians. But if he wants to stay with you, and is an artisan, let him work and eat. But if he has no trade, according to your understanding, see to it that, as a Christian, he shall not live with you idle.
... if he wills not to do [work], he is a Christ-monger. Watch that you keep away from such.
Chapter 14. Christian Assembly on the Lord's Day. But every Lord's day gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure….For this is that which was spoken by the Lord: "In every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice; for I am a great King, says the Lord, and my name is wonderful among the nations."
Chapter 15. Bishops and Deacons; Christian Reproof - appoint for yourselves bishops and deacons worthy of the Lord, men meek, and not lovers of money… Reprove one another, not in anger, but in peace, as you have it in the Gospel ...
let no one speak, nor let him hear anything from you until he repents.
Chapter 16. Watchfulness; The Coming of the Lord - In the last days false prophets and corrupters shall be multiplied ... and love shall be turned into hate

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions 1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be. 2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold. 3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine. 4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior, protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors. |
