As Holy Week ramps up, thank you for fasting with us.

How much of Christendom fasts weekly?

How many will not even fast this week intensely?

Yet you are continually fasting with us.  As small of a sacrifice as bread and water fasting is, our joyful fast is like a burnt offering before the Lord, pleasing in its aroma, and consoles His heart.  You make the effort and say yes when most justify not fasting as if involved in a legal argument, pointing to “an out” as to why they are not obligated to fast. This Holy Week let us fast on Wednesday with our usual bread and water fast. Then after celebrating Thursday evening with the great feast commemorating His last command to us, to celebrate the Eucharist, let us endeavor to fast on Good Friday as Jesus fasted on Good Friday. 

i.e., nothing to eat, and nothing to drink.

This is far more intense than our normal bread and water fast but it was the least painful part of His day and it’s something little we can offer up as we have each year on Good Friday.  Particularly coming on the heels of our recent Esther Fast when we abstained from food and drink for three days, one day now seems relatively easy, doesn’t it? And if of course if it is too much for you, simply do the best you can, but strive to make a great effort for our Savior.

We hope to have a video to share with you soon about the takeaways we heard from our Esther Fast. In the interim, a brief summary is that we went into the fast asking the Lord to show us the practical tiny steps we need to take to win back our nation as a Christian Republic.

Candidly what we heard disappointed us and was not what we wanted to hear.

However, we must proceed in the order the Spirit guides us and submit to what we hear from Him provided it is not a contradiction to the commandments, scriptures, or major teachings.

The takeaway as to what we heard from our Esther Fast is that before we can take back the country, we must first take back the church.

And while we say that from the perspective of practicing Catholics, clearly those words are applicable to our brothers and sisters who fast with us from the mainstream protestant churches such as the Anglican church that have also been hijacked by evil.

How are we to take back to church? We come away believing there are three steps each of us are called to take.

And let us be clear - we believe now is the moment to take back the church.

The first step is our individual repentance which crescendos in importance this week given what Jesus did for us. Repentance was the first message preached by Jesus, the first message by Peter, the first teaching from Saint Paul, and the entire message of John the Baptist. Consider these words from scripture that speak to the important of complete repentance

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

- James 2:10

We fall short every day, but we strive to give Him our best effort.

So, this week, whatever the Holy Spirit places on our hearts as to behavior He would have us change, let’s ask for the courage and strength to do so.

Secondly to take back our church, we must pray and fast.  This group already does that but let us re-double our commitment to pray each day, and to pray an hour each day as He asked us to from the Garden of Gethsemane. Pray by praising Him in song, reading His scriptures, repenting, listening to His whispers. We also want to encourage all of our dear protestant brothers to consider praying the rosary with us, a prayer to God the Father around which heaven has chosen to attach the greatest signs and wonders we have seen since the bible was completed.  And of course the summit of prayer, centering everything we do in prayer around His final command to us, celebrating Eucharist and the intimate reception of His body and His blood.

Thirdly and finally, it is time to imitate our Savior and throw the evil leadership from our church.

The moneychangers had nothing on Catholic bishops today.

We will endeavor to eliminate the USCCB and to prosecute the bishops, cardinals, and clergy who have corrupted the church, violated our children and caused the loss of so many souls.

We are not exactly sure how this will unfold, but like Our Lady displayed in the most famous image ever painted by heaven, the image of Guadalupe, her knee was bent with a baby step forward. We are called to do the same. We don’t know where the path will lead, but we take a baby step forward in faith believing now is the moment to take back the church and trusting the Spirit will inform us as to details we need to know when the time arises.

Finally as background while we focus first on taking back the church before we can take back the country, a client from the Ukraine sent us the following video that we wanted to share with you.  

This show that was taped c.1964 by the only Catholic clergyman in the United States to ever have a top-rated television show. Just as the Pharisees were so jealous of Jesus, the bishops were so jealous and fearful of this speaker who is of course Fulton Sheen and the bishops shut him down.

Wait until you hear Sheen’s words however - talking specifically about the presidential election of 2024, and the importance of patriotism for Christians.  What a contrast his words are to today’s perspective when patriotism is not even spoken of but derided as nationalism.  Sheen holds up patriotism alongside love of God and speaks in defense of America. This speech could have been given today in the United States and it would be so current.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
